Last night, about 10:00 PM, the Emergency Operations Center issued a statement confirming that there is a confirmed case of COVID-19 in Val Verde County. Here is a link to the statement:
Please read the statement in its entirety.
This is not causing us at CISD to do anything more than what I sent out yesterday, as far as precautions.
County officials have deemed our current operations at CISD as essential and we will continue to serve our students, senior citizens, and staff in the same manner.
Just a couple of closing thoughts:
People that choose to live on the frontera are special people. They are brave, resilient, resourceful, family oriented, people of faith, hardworking, and ready to take care of their neighbors. Val Verde County residents fit that description. We will get through this. As I have said before, we will be better, stronger, and more prepared for what life throws at us in the future.
If I had to pick any spot to weather this storm, it would be in Val Verde County (OK…If I was offered a chance to go to a deserted island in the Caribbean…) Our County and City leaders are working overtime to do everything humanly possible to protect us. What we can do is pray, heed their direction, and look out for our neighbors.
