Journalism Class

Valdez's journalism class sign

Hello, my Newsies!!

I hope y’all have kept safe and healthy during this time away from school!

All classwork will be emailed to just like we have done throughout the year.

Journalism-- primarily feature writing-- is about developing your voice and communicating with your readership. Show them what you want them to see what you want them to think about a topic. It’s that easy. Writing is about YOU becoming a confident and brilliant YOU!

Things to remember-- THINK CRITICALLY. DIG. ANALYZE. Find interesting angles to the topics before writing.

When writing feature articles, remember to ENGAGE the reader. HOOK THEM from the start! :)

For editorials- remember to address the biggest argument first! Editorial writing is your chance to discover your ability and right to form opinions and intelligently express them to the public! What a precious right we have in this country- let’s develop the skills to do this to where it is a service to the public!
