Shumla is working with a group of outstanding students from Comstock ISD to document a rock art site called the Tinaja Site near the Pecos River. The students are learning Shumla’s high-tech scientific method of rock art documentation. Shumla’s method includes the use of Total Data Station hardware and Geographic Information Systems software for mapping, high-resolution photography and 3-D modeling software for documentation and microscopes for close-up analysis of paint make-up and stratigraphy – tools and techniques that can be applied in many STEM fields. What a great experience for our kids to take with them as they continue on to college and future jobs. Check out Shumla’s new video describing their work and featuring our students at https://shumla.org/
